Hunt goes D-II
Boyd County senior basketball player Austin Hunt has verbally committed to Lincoln Memorial University, a Division II program. The school is located in Harrogate, Tenn., near Middlesboro, Ky.
Hunt did not play as a junior after transferring to Boyd County from Russell.
As a sophomore, Hunt averaged better than 14 points a game and was one of the Red Devils’ top scorers. He figures to be one of the 16th Region’s best players as a Lion this season.
Hunt will sign with Lincoln Memorial next week.
Terry to Nova
Fairview graduate Mike Terry, a 2,000-point scorer in his high school career, has signed to play basketball at Nova Southeastern University.
The Division-II school is located in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The Sharks went 13-14 last year, falling in the first round of the Sunshine State Conference.
Terry will enroll in December and won’t be eligible to play until the 2013-14 season. He injured his knee this past summer, which stalled the recruitment process a bit.
As a Fairview senior, Terry averaged 22.5 points and 10.7 rebounds a game. He shot better than 36 percent from 3-point range.
