High School Roundup: Fairview routs Rose Hill in opener

WESTWOOD — Fairview’s boys began their season with a convincing 79-22 victory over Rose Hill on Tuesday night.

The Eagles turned in a balanced scoring effort as 12 players notched between two and 13 points. Andrew Carroll led Fairview (1-0) with 13 points. Ryan Jones, Antwan Washington and Alex Roy netted 10 apiece. Roy also grabbed 10 rebounds.

Fairview hosts Russell on Friday.

Rose Hill fell to 0-2. Senior Elijah Daniels notched a team-high eight points.

OLIVE HILL West Carter clawed back from a four-point halftime deficit to beat Russell in the EKC Tournament consolation round on Tuesday.

Dalton Spurlock had a game-high 15 points for the Comets (1-3). Ben Jordan posted 14 points and eight rebounds.

Ethan Raby sank three 3-pointers to share team-high scoring honors with Ramsey Mullins, at 11, for Russell (0-3).

SALYERSVILLE Lawrence County had five players in double figures as it beat Magoffin County on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs (3-0) were paced by Robert Dalton’s 22 points. Brandon Richardson tossed in 19, Timmy Dalton 15, Grant Kiser 13 and Austin Chaffins 11. The team hit seven total 3-pointers.

Jeff Bolen led Magoffin County (1-3) with 24 points.

WESTWOOD Fairview junior Madison Humphrey connected on four 3-pointers and racked up 21 total points as the Lady Eagles earned their first win of the season on Tuesday.

Brittany Bell had 12 points and Madison Humphrey chipped in 10 for Fairview (1-1), which hosts Russell on Friday.

Rose Hill fell to 0-3. The Lady Royals’ high scorer against the Lady Eagles was Kirsten Wehmeier, with nine points.
