Emily Stewart’s strong showing in the Kentucky Softball Coaches Association’s East-West All-Star Games last weekend earned her an invitation to another All-Star series.
The Boyd County High School grad and Area Co-Player of the Year was chosen to play for the Kentucky All-Star team that will travel to Tennessee this week.
Stewart went 3-for-6 at the plate and also excelled in the field at several positions during the All-Star games in Louisville.
“That’s a pretty big deal,” said Boyd County coach Geoff Stewart. “It’s good not just for her and Boyd County County High, but our region.”
Stewart becomes only the second player from Boyd County’s softball program to be selected to participate in the Kentucky-Tennessee series, joining Lauren Ellis (2006).
The Kentucky All-Stars will play doubleheaders Wednesday at Middle Tennessee State University (Murfreesboro) and Thursday at Tennessee Tech (Cookeville).
Rowan County coach Larry Slone will help coach the Kentucky squad.
Boyd County’s Taylor Wheeler, who played for the East Junior All-Stars last week, also performed well offensively and defensively.
She was 2-for-5, including a double.
