LONDON — Ashland-American 9-10 All-Stars took a quick loss in the Kentucky State Little League Softball Tournament on Monday evening.

North Laurel beat Ashland 8-3 on the strength of nine hits to send Ashland into the loser’s bracket. The All-Stars will face Monday night’s loser between North Oldham and South Hardin at 8 tonight.

Camryn Cassidy’s RBI single in the fifth inning was Ashland’s lone hit.

Three North Laurel pitchers combined to toss the one-hitter, but they were a bit wild at times.

Walks and passed balls helped plate the other two runs for Ashland.

Sarah Litteral, Mattison Parks and Lauren Spears accounted for the three runs scored.

Said Ashland-American manager Brad Hamilton following the loss: “They’re down right now, but they’re enjoying the experience. It’s a big stage for these kids.”
