Highlands started its possible trek to a seventh straight Class 4A state title by defeating Boyd County 70-6 on Friday Night.
This marks the fourth time this season that the Bluebirds put up 70 points against an opponent. With the win, Highlands (10-1) will play Ashland in the region semifinal next week at home.
Boyd County (1-10) ends its season at Fort Thomas Highlands for the third straight season.

Harrison County 13
PAINTSVILLE Johnson Central defeated Harrison County 77-13 to move to the region semifinal game next week.
The Golden Eagles (11-0) are only one of two teams in Class 4A still undefeated — the other being Boyle County.
Next week, Johnson Central will host the winner of today’s game between Covington Catholic and Rowan County.
South Floyd 20
HI HAT Paintsville put up its highest point total of the season, defeating South Floyd in the opening round of the Class A playoffs.
The win marks the Tigers’ first postseason win since the 2008 season when they defeated Pineville.
Paintsville (8-3) will move onto the region semifinal next week and will travel to district rival Raceland.

SALYERSVILLE Lawrence County broke a three-game losing streak by defeating Magoffin County 36-20 in the opening round of the Class 3A playoffs.
The Bulldogs (8-3) now travel to Belfry, who already own a 35-12 win over Lawrence County this season.
