ROUNDUP: Raceland bats get hot

ASHLAND — Racleand let its bats do the talking, picking up two wins in a triangle against Prestonsburg and Jackson City.

In the first game, Raceland defeated Jackson City 11-1.

Sophomore MaKenna Weaver went a perfect 4-for-4 in the game, including a home run and a double and pickining up three RBIs.

Lacee Penix went 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs, while Savannah Mackie went 4-for-4 from the plate.

Kelsey Diller went a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate while picking up the win in the circle.

In the second game  against the home team Prestonsburg, the Raceland bats stayed hot.

The Lady Rams defeated the Lady Blackcats 12-1 behind 12 hits, including a 2-run home run from Madison Johnson.

Taylor Podunavac went 2-for-3, while Savannah Cotton went a perfect 2-for-2 in the game.

Penix picked up the win for Raceland (9-8), striking out seven in four innings.

Ashland loses two

HAMLIN Ashland started off a triangle at Lincoln County High School by dropping a game to the home team.

After grabbing a 3-2 lead through four, Lincoln County scored seven runs in the last two innings to run away with the win.

Ashland was led by junior Sydney Whitt, who took a ball over the fence for a home run.

McKenzie Vanover was another bright spot for the Kittens as the junior went 2-for-3 in the loss.

In the second game, Cabell Midland capitalized off of three Kittens’ errors to come away with a win.

Ashland (12-7) could only manage two hits, and gave up five unearned runs.
