Boyd, East Carter add to win totals

LLOYD — Boyd County senior Taylor Wheeler put on a free throw exhibition in leading the Lady Lions to a 62-48 victory over Greenup County on Wednesday night.

Wheeler's 29-point performance featured a 12-for-13 effort from the foul line. She was 8 of 9 from the charity stripe in the second quarter.

Alexis Lunsford scored 11.

Overall, the Lady Lions were 24 of 31 on free throws.

Micah Leslie nailed five 3-pointers as she scored a team-high 23 points for Greenup County (10-16).

It was tied at 26-26, then  Boyd County (20-8) outscored the Lady Musketeers 36-22.

GRAYSON East Carter turned in a sharp performance to overwhelm Morgan County.

The Lady Raiders connected on 8-of-15 three-point attempts and shot 50 percent overall in winning for the 25th time in 27 games.

East Carter committed only one turnover until subbing in its last five players. Megan Stickler and Kelsey Stumbo each scored 12 points and the Lady Raiders put 12 players in the scoring column.
