PREP ROUNDUP: Kittens’ Hensley files another no-hitter

LEXINGTON — Megan Hensley tossed yet another no-hitter as she and the Kittens cruised to a 13-0 victory over Harrison County on Saturday at Henry Clay HIgh School.

Hensley struck out 10 and walked just two as Ashland disposed of the Lady Thorobreds in five innings. She also went 3-for-3 with five RBIs and two runs scored.

Ashland homered three times, including one by Hensley. McKenzie Vanover and Sydney Cullop also went deep.

Cullop was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Vanover 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Sydney Whitt added two hits and three runs.

The Kittens (19-8) dropped the second game of a doubleheader, falling to Henry Clay 6-5. They gave up three runs in the final inning.

Ashland upped its home run total to 29 on the season with long balls by Vanover and Cullop. Hensley went 2-for-3.

The Kittens are at Russell on Monday.

PRESTONSBURG Evan Yongue tossed a complete game, three-hit gem as the Tomcats edged Prestonsburg on Saturday in the King of the Mountain Classic.

Yongue fanned nine and walked three.

Ashland’s Logan Salow led off the game with a double and later scored on an error. He went 2-for-4.

The other run came in the sixth, when Jake Hall plated Cade O’Bryan on a fielder’s choice.

Prestonsburg stole home in the seventh to avoid a shutout.

FLATWOODS Russell routed Fairview in the first game of the Frank Bloom Memorial on a wet Friday evening.

Caleb Spainhower, Jacob McKee and Troy Huffine each chipped in a couple hits. Spainhower tallied three RBIs, and McKee drove in two.

Garion Robinson and Spainhower executed squeeze bunts in the third to break a scoreless tie and the offensive ice.

McKee dealt a complete game. He struck out 12 Eagles and walked one.
