HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Buzzer-beater downs Devils

CHESAPEAKE, Ohio — Russell’s boys put themselves in position to beat Washington Court House (Ohio) on Ethan Raby’s go-ahead 3-pointer with 3.9 seconds to go on Saturday in the Beasts of the Southeast event at Chesapeake High School, but the Blue Lions got a 25-footer from Conner Eckles to rattle in as time expired to pull out a 63-61 decision.

The Red Devils (4-12) trailed by 15 at one point in the first half. They got 17 points from Zach Tackett and 15 from Raby.

Eckles led all scorers with 19 points. Tyler Slone netted 18 for Washington Court House (8-2).

Russell travels to Lewis County for a 63rd District tournament seeding contest on Tuesday.
