J. Central edges Shelby Valley behind Gullett’s 20

PIKEVILLE — Johnson Central scratched out a closely fought contest against Shelby Valley, 65-62, on Tuesday night at Shelby Valley High School.

A tight affair throughout, the Golden Eagles leaned on high scorer Kyle Gullett and his 20 points to help pull them through.

Shane Hall contributed 13 points and nine boards, while Slade McPeek and Truman Salyer tallied 10 points apiece.

Sharp-shooting Tyler Carr nailed five 3-pointers in racking up 26 points for Shelby Valley (3-2). Carr was 5 of 8 beyond the arc.

Johnson Central (2-2) travels to Fairdale (Louisville) to take on Thomas Nelson on Friday in the King of the Bluegrass event.
