PREP ROUNDUP: Paintsville survives in 2 OTs

PAINTSVILLE Lawrence County got it to overtime, but it was Paintsville that came out victorious.

Paintsville needed two overtimes to defeat district foe Lawrence County 82-76 on Thursday night.

Trevor Tiller had a game-high 31 points for the Tigers. Kash Daniel had 18 points while Matt Daniels added 15 points.

Lawrence County (1-6) was led by Austin Chaffin, who had 23 points and hit a 3-pointer at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime.

The Bulldogs had another chance for heroics in the first overtime, but couldn’t get another last-second shot to fall.

Grant Kiser had 22 points for the Bulldogs while Robert Dalton had 20 points.

With the victory, Paintsville (4-1) won its third straight game.

OLIVE HILL  Morgan County had four players in double figures, picking up a 71-60 win over district opponent West Carter on Thursday night.

The Cougars were led by freshman Jordan Perry, who had 23 points.

Aleksandar Malinic added 16 points for West Carter, while Samuel Aguirre and Jordan Whitt had 12 points each.

West Carter (0-4) was led by senior Kyle Brown, who had a game-high 30 points. Dustin Black added 11 points for the Comets.

West Carter plays its next seven games on the road, starting with a game Saturday at Greenup Count.

Morgan County (4-2) plays another district game at Elliott County tonight.

ASHLAND Fairview sank eight 3-pointers on Thursday picking up a district win over Rose Hill.

Senior Devon Turner paced the Eagles with 16 points while Cameron Delong added 13 points.

Rose Hill had only four scorers, but three were in double figures. Cameron Thomas led the way with a game-high 18 points, while Travis Dudding and Chase Meredith added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Fairview (3-2) are in action again tonight as it hosts Greenup County.

Rose Hill (0-7) are off until Tuesday, when it competes in the Days Innvitational Tournament at Fairview.

ASHLAND Fairview started out hot and picked up a district win over Rose Hill on Thursday.

The Lady Eagles scored 35 points in the first half compared to Rose Hill 17 points.

Fairview (4-3) was led by Brittany Bell’s 12 points. Jessica Meeks and Mackenzie Humphrey had 10 points each for the Lady Eagles.

Rose Hill (0-5) was led by Myriah Porter, who had a game-high 18 points.
