MOREHEAD — Approximately 150 campers attended each of the two-day Kenneth Faried All-Star Basketball Camp on Thursday at Morehead State’s Ellis T. Johnson Arena.
About 15 past and present Eagles, including Faried, were in attendance.
Campers included boys and girls from kindergarten to 12th grade age.
Faried, currently a starter for the Denver Nuggets, supplied hands-on instruction for individuals. Competitions for campers included ball handling, passing, shooting and a five-on-five event.
Faried helped Morehead State to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances (2009, 2011) and arguably the school’s biggest victory over Louisville his senior season.
Faried was named the OVC’s Male Athlete of the Year as a senior. He was a two-time OVC Basketball Player of the Year (2010-11) and three-time Defensive Player of the Year (2009-11).
Faried finished his college career with a modern-era record 1,673 rebounds.
He averaged 11.5 points, 9.2 rebounds and shot 55 percent from the field in 28.1 minutes per game this past season, his second with Denver. He participated in the Slam Dunk contest as well.
