Bell's winner lifts Fairview; Lady Lions roll

WESTWOOD — Brittney Bell had 25 points, including the game-winning basket, to lead Fairview past Elliott County 43-42 on Monday night.

The Lady Eagles faced a 16-point deficit at halftime, but were able to bring it down to eight to start the fourth quarter.

Bell hit a 10-foot jump shot with only two seconds remaining to give Fairview the win on the opening night of the season.

Freshman Samantha Reynolds had nine points for the Lady Eagles.

Ashley Holbrook led Elliott County with 20 points.

PAINTSVILLE Boyd County opened the game hot and went on to beat Johnson Central.

The Lady Lions outscored the Lady Eagles 31-15 in the first half behind. Junior Taylor Wheeler finished with 27 points.

Emily Stewart scored 12 points and Morgan Kenser added 11 for Boyd County.

Johnson Central’s Amber Shepherd led all scorers with 35 points, including all three of her team’s 3-pointers.

The Lady Cats also forced Raceland into 26 turnovers.

Taylor Rogers led Bath Coumty with 20 points, including three 3-pointers. Freshman Sarah Price added 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Haleigh Porter had 15 points.

Raceland’s Michelle Vanderhoof scored 11.
