Ashland boys, girls get bench involved early

ASHLAND — Fourteen players got into the scoring column as Ashland rolled past Rose Hill Christian, 71-16, in boys high school basketball Monday night.

The Tomcats led 20-0 after one quarter and 50-8 at halftime on the way to their 17th win.

Dikembe Dixson put in 13 points while 11 other Ashland players each scored at least four. The Tomcats travel to Rowan County tonight.

Rose Hill slipped to 1-17.

ASHLAND All 13 of Ashland’s players scored in the first half of a runaway victory.

The Kittens finished with 21 assists and just two turnovers while coming up with 28 turnovers from Rose Hill Christian.

Kaylyn Gambill had 12 points, followed by Alexis Robinson, Haley Sue Foutch and Mykasa Robinson with nine apiece.

Ashland (17-5) hosts Senior Night on Thursday against Fleming County.

RUSSELL Arden Gross and Hope Parsley combined for 43 points and 17 rebounds to help send the Lady Devils past Lexington Christian.

Gross finished with 23 points and nine rebounds, while Parsley had 20 points and eight boards.

Russell (11-12) generated 19 assists. 

Holly Huellemeir scored 20 for LCA (11-10).

Kara Kirk connected on three 3-pointers and had 13 points as the Lady Bulldogs improved to 16-6. Savannah Cyrus added 12 points.

Shelby Carroll tossed in 20 for Paintsville.

OWINGSVILLE Bath County outscored Robertson County 17-3 in the first quarter and rolled to a 24-point halftime advantage.

Freshman Sarah Price supplied 14 points, 12 rebounds and six blocked shots for Bath County (13-6). Hannah Walters also scored 14 and Haley Porter netted 10.

Lacey Mitchell’s 19 points led Robertston County.
