Alicia Murphy hit two free throws to seal a 51-47 win for Ironton over Ashland on Thursday night at Ironton High School.
Ironton led 11-4 after an early 7-0 run, but Ashland quickly closed the gap, tying it 18-18 on a layup by Sydney Cullop in the second quarter.
Ties became common as the game was knotted up three separate times in the fourth quarter before an Ironton spurt allowed the Lady Tigers to take a 45-39 lead.
Ashland (9-2) managed to tie it one more time, 45-45, on two foul shots by Cullop with 1:40 to go.
The Kittens trimmed a 49-45 lead on a jumper by Alexis Robinson with 30 seconds left, but after Murphy’s free throws, Ironton stole the ball to seal it.
