Ashland Post 76 opened the Kentucky American Legion State Tournament with a bang Tuesday.
The Sixers belted Somerset 12-2 in eight innings behind a 14-hit attack.
J.D. Pridemore drove in five runs to lead the way. Ashland broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the fourth inning, then added three more in each of the next two innings.
Seth Boyle pitched eight innings for the victory and aided his cause with three hits as Post 76 advanced to a winner’s bracket semifinal today at 5 p.m.
Aaron Elam also collected three hits for Ashland.
