East Carter freshman Andrew Sharp polished off a perfect day at the plate with a 3-for-3 effort against Rowan County on Saturday in the Big Jack Classic at East Carter High School.
Sharp drove in three runs as the Raiders beat the Vikings, 4-3, handing them their first loss inside the 16th Region this season.
Alex Wells plated the other Raider run with a single.
Sophomore Austin Floyd tossed a complete game, scattering eight hits over seven innings while striking out five.
Rowan County’s Tyler Thacker hit a home run and drove in a pair of Vikings runs.
East Carter (10-12) pinned a 13-0 loss on Magoffin County earlier in the day. Sharp went 4-for-4 in that contest.
Rowan County (12-4) also beat Magoffin County, 15-7.

Raceland drops 3 in state All “A” Classic
OWENSBORO The Raceland Lady Rams, champions of the 16th Region All “A” Classic, weren’t able to continue their All “A” success at the state level on Saturday.
The Lady Rams dropped a trio of games, losing to Bracken County, 3-0, Holy Cross (Louisville), 9-0, and Ballard Memorial, 10-6.
Raceland (14-7) failed to emerge from pool play.
Kelsey Diller pitched all 19 innings for the Lady Rams. Savannah Mackie accounted for the only two Raceland hits against 11th-ranked Holy Cross.
Raceland travels to Lewis County on Monday.
