HUNTINGTON, W.Va. —
Huntington Prep senior Andrew Wiggins has been named the 2012-13 Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year.
The announcement was made on Wednesday morning at the school.
Wiggins led the Express to a 30-3 record and No. 7 ranking in USA Today's Super 25.
He averaged 23.4 points, 11.2 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game.
Wiggins was also a McDonald's All-American, a Jordan Brand Classic All-American and a Naismith Award winner in 2013.
Yet to commit to a college, the 6-foot-7, 200-pound senior is ranked the No. 1 recruit by Rivals, Scout and ESPN.
Wiggins' list of possible destinations include North Carolina, Florida State, Kentucky and Kansas, among others.
Former NBA champion and Gatorade National Player of the Year Alonzo Mourning was on hand for the surprise announcement for Wiggins.
