High School Roundup: Lady Devils down Chesapeake, 71-55

RUSSELL — Russell exploded for 43 second-half points to put away Chesapeake, 71-55, on Monday night at Marvin Meredith Gymnasium.

Madison Darnell led the Lady Devils (10-3) in scoring with 16 poitns. Hannah Carter had 15, Lexi Berry added 12 and Maggie Jachimczuk posted a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Berry also accumulated nine steals as Russell forced 37 turnovers. The Lady Devils travel to Lawrence County on Jan. 6.

NICHOLASVILLE West Carter enjoyed a 29-point outburst in the second quarter en route to a convincing victory over WEst Jessamine on Monday.

Sophomore Lyla Evans led the Lady Comets with 17 points. Brooke Adkins chipped in 13 and Stacey Easterling 11 as nine different players scored for West Carter (3-5).

The Lady Comets host Rose Hill on Thursday.

ASHLAND Cameron Thomas continued his roll, but it wasn’t enough as Rose Hill fell to Lynn Camp on Monday.

Thomas amassed 32 points for his third straight performance of at least 30 points.

Nathan Hamilton contributed 12 for Rose Hill (2-8), which hosts Beth Haven on Friday at 6 p.m.
