Kittens pounce on Fairview

ASHLAND —

Ashland Ashland put away Fairview in an 11-1 route on Thursday.

Senior Katie Caron led the Kittens (2-2) at the plate with a home run and a double. Hayley Kilburn and Katie Baldock both had doubles in the win.

Megan Hensley held the Eagles (1-2) to one hit in six innings with striking out 13.

The Kittens next take a trip to Myrtle Beach for the Grand Strand Softball Classic.

The Eagles host Elliott County tonight.

Paintsville 19,  Phelps 3

PAINTSVILLE Paintsville gave up three runs in the top of the first before accounting for the game's next 19 runs in a huge defeat of Phelps on Thursday night at home.

The Tigers (4-2) scored seven runs in both the first and fourth innings. Brooks Pelphrey pitched all five innings, settling in from the second frame on. He gave up just three hits.

Matt Miller and Brandon Haight each had two-run singles in the first. Taylor Miller accounted for a pair of run-scoring singles.

Phelps fell to 2-4.
