PREP ROUNDUP: Skaggs sets new Russell scoring mark

Senior has most points in Red Devils’ history

WEST LIBERTY — Kyle Skaggs is officially Russell’s all-time leading scorer.

The senior scored 32 on Saturday, in the Red Devils 65-61 win over Morgan County in the opening round of the EKC Tournament.

Skaggs now has 1,908 points in his career, passing the old record held by Jon Van Hoose. It was his third straight 30 point game this season.

Jacob Porter added 16 points and Lance Evans had ten for Russell (3-0).

Morgan County (2-1) was led by Jordan Perry who scored 24. Aleksandar Malinic also had 11 points for the Cougars.

The semifinals will be held on Tuesday at Morgan County.

WINCHESTER Ashland forced Clark County into 31 turnovers in picking up its second win of the season.

Kaylyn Gambill had a game high 19 points for the Kittens.

Haley Sue Foutch and Alicia Gunter had 11 points for Ashland (2-0), while Sydney Cullop added 10 for the Kittens.

Alexis Robinson had nine points and led the Kittens in Rebounds with seven.

Ashland is in action again on Monday, traveling to South Point.

GRAYSON East Carter opened up its EKC first round game on fire, and they didn’t quit.

The Lady Raiders held Menifee County to single digit scoring in the last three quarters on its way to a win on Saturday.

Kristen Mayo led East Carter in scoring with 16 points, six coming from 3-point range.

East Carter (2-0) also got a big game from sophomore Megan Stickler, who finished the game with 10 points.

The Lady Raiders second round EKC game will be Tuesday against Russell at Morgan Count.y

WEST LIBERTY Russell got big games from the post to win it’s first round EKC game over Morgan County on Saturday.

Arden Gross scored 15 points, while Hope Parsley added 13 in the Lady Devils win.

Guard Lexi Berry added in 11 points. Russell’s defense was also on display, holding Morgan County to single-digit scoring in the last three quarters.

Russell (1-1) will play it’s semifinal game in the EKC Tournament on Tuesday against East Carter. The game will be at Morgan County.
