Messer scores 24 as Rams rally past Eagles

WESTWOOD — Visiting Raceland trailed at the first three quarter stops, including after the first period 19-8, but came back late to pull out a 63-61 decision at Fairview on Saturday night.

Connor Messer led the Rams (5-3) with 24 points. Jacob Blair pitched in 15 and Tyler Morris joined them in double figures with 11.

Andrew Carroll netted 24 points to pace the Eagles (1-8). Antwan Washington tallied 17 points.

Both teams return to action Tuesday. Raceland is at Ironton St. Joseph and Fairview travels to Greenup County.

WESTWOOD The visiting Lady Rams posted a 20-5 run encompassing the final frame to complete a dominant win.

Savannah Mackie had 19 points to claim game high-scoring honors for the Lady Rams (6-5). Teammate Krystal Keeton netted 14 points.

Brittney Bell led the Lady Eagles (3-7) with 14 points.

PAINTSVILLE Kyle Gullett scored 16 points, including a dunk, and Slade McPeek netted 11 as the host Golden Eagles handled the Hornets in a 57th District showdown on Friday night.

Shane Hall had nine points and nine rebounds for Johnson Central (6-5). Braxton Blair had eight boards, a career high, and dished five assists.

Jeffery Bolen had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Magoffin County (9-6).
