PORTSMOUTH, OHIO —
The Kentucky Warriors semi-professional football team moved to 3-0 with a 35-27 defeat of the Southern Ohio Spartans this past Saturday at Spartan Stadium.
The Warriors are leading the River City Division of the Northern Frontier Football League. They are one of just four unbeaten teams remaining in the 16-team NFFL.
Quarterback Justin Lunsford led the way on Saturday with 196 yards passing on 12 of 17 attempts. He had three touchdowns and threw an interception. He hooked up with Angel Gurule, Jermaine Payton and Chance Freeman for scores.
Jordan Schankweiler paced the rushing effort with 107 yards on 25 attempts. He found paydirt once.
Payton caught three balls for 81 yards.
Marquis Martin tallied eight tackles for the Warriors, while Dustin Winters and Clyde Manuel each contributed six stops. Steve Lee recorded five tackles.
The Warriors host the Ohio Xtreme on Saturday at 7 p.m.
