MARK MAYNARD: Kentucky’s on TV, but where?

Finding Kentucky football games on television can be an exasperating experience.

We frequently receive calls from readers wondering where, or if, the Cats will be shown.

Tonight’s game with Louisiana-Monroe will be shown on Fox Sports South, although not many in the area can tune into that station. It’s also on Sun, if you have that one.

UK radio voice Tom Leach may have to be your friend with this one. Kickoff is 7 o’clock.

In two weeks, UK’s home game against Eastern Kentucky will be shown live on WKYT in Lexington and WMYT in Hazard. That one has a 1 p.m. kickoff. It’s also be on delayed telecast on Big Blue Network affiliates (that would be WSAZ’s MyZ around here).

In addition, the game can be seen nationwide on ESPN GamePlan, with no blackout areas.

It’s possible that next week’s game with Mississippi State will be on one of SEC’s family of networks. For now, kickoff is 7 p.m.

Tickets are available for the EKU game and the Nov. 28 Tennessee game and can be purchased by

calling 800-928-2287, or via the Internet at ukathletics.com or ticketmaster.com.

The available seats are unused tickets from the visiting team allotment. Kentucky sold out of all available season tickets this season.

G-town victory

Georgetown College surprised No. 6 University of the Cumberlands 23-20 last Saturday at Toyota Stadium.

The Tigers, ranked No. 25 prior to that game, has several local ties including tight end Drew McDavid and starting offensive linemen John Kazee and Robby Logan. Nathanial Dials and John-Scott Carver are also on the roster.

Georgetown plays at Campbellsville today at 1:30 p.m.

Ashland ties

Ashland will be well-represented when the 2009 UK Hall of Fame class is introduced at the Louisana-Monroe-UK game tonight.

A pair of former Tomcat pitchers — Brandon Webb and Jim Host — are among nine inductees.

Webb played for UK from 1997-2000 before being drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Host graduated from UK in the late 1950s after a stellar career. He was the first scholarship baseball player at UK.

Clyde Johnson, a former Ashland High School athlete, was inducted into the 2005 charter class at UK. Johnson was the first football All-American at UK in 1942.

More Ashland ties ...

Adam Arthur, the son of former Tomcat football player Gary Arthur, is a member of Alabama-Birmingham’s football team. UAB plays at Marshall today.

Adam is a 6-foot-2, 270-pound backup redshirt sophomore offensive lineman and also plays on special teams for the Blazers.

Stilll ranked

Cross country teams from Ashland and Fairview still rank among the best in Kentucky in their respective classes.

Ashland is ranked No. 9 in Class AA boys and Fairview No. 2 in Class A girls.

Fairview’s Brooklyn Bowen, a freshman, is No. 9 individually in Class A and Ashland’s Jon Renneker, a junior, is No. 4 in Class AA.
