Ashland Post 76’s baseball team swept a doubleheader from Glen Este Post 72 at Glenn Este High School on Sunday in its season opener.
In the first game, the Sixers followed the four-hit, seven-strikeout pitching of Austin Lyons to a 12-2 victory. Ashland won the nightcap 15-13 in a slugfest.
Peyton Martin belted a three-run homer and drove in four runs while Navarone Allshouse had a two-run double and Loren Huffman scored three times in the opener.
In the second game, Ashland rallied for four runs in the top of the seventh inning for the comeback win. Martin delivered a two-run single for the game-winning hit and Allshouse shut down Post 72 in the bottom of the seventh.
Post 76 trailed 5-1 before erupting for nine runs in the fourth inning, sending 13 batters to the plate.
Eric Craft, Josh Wilson and Allshouse each had two hits in the inning while Barr had a two-run double in the inning.
