Alleged shoplifter charged with being a fugitive

ASHLAND — The following information was taken from Ashland Police Department reports:

Fugitive arrest

‰Police on Monday charged an alleged Walmart shoplifter with being a fugitive from justice after it was discovered he had an outstanding warrant from Dearborn, Ind.

Joshua A. Barber, 27, of Lexington, also was charged with giving an officer a false name and with misdemeanor theft for allegedly trying to steal merchandise valued at $451.84,

Barber was lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center.

Theft

‰A woman living in the 3700 block of Leighwood Drive on Wednesday reported te theft of jewelry valued at $8,500.

Drugs

‰A woman arrested for shoplifting at Ashland Town Center on Monday was also charged with felony drug possession.

Tonnia F. Buchannon, 35, of the 800 block of Bath Avenue, was charged with first-degree possession, in addition to misdemeanor theft.

Buchannon allegedly tried to steal items valued at $274.99 from Kentucky Korner and Rack Room Shoes.

Burglary

‰A resident of the 2700 block of Jackson Avenue on Monday reported a specially built bicycle and wireless hot spot card had been stolen from his garage and vehicle.

‰A woman on Wednesday reported someone entered her home in the 1200 block of Gallaher Drive and stole a laptop computer.
