Fittest in Tri-State competition held

ASHLAND — Athletes from three states competed for the title of “Fittest in the Tri-State” Saturday, hosted by an Ashland Crossfit affiliate.

Huntington-based Crossfit Thunder and Firebreather Fitness, of Teays Valley, tied in the team competition portion of  Crossfit Countdown’s Gym Throw Down. Each team scored 83 points, and split the $1,000 purse.

Athletes from Crossfit Thunder swept the women’s competition. Sara Hatfield was crowned the “Fittest woman in the Tri-State” after winning all four events in the women’s division. Her teammates Cassandra Toff and Jen Rocawich placed second and third respectively.

Ryan Dillow, of Firebreather Fitness, was named Fittest Man in the Tri-State, while his teammate Chris Middleton, took second place. Richard Carr, of Crossfit Countdown, placed third.

More than 40 athletes competed in the event representing gyms in Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky.
