ASHLAND — The Summer Motion concert series on the riverfront finally had a rain-free night and it was spectacular.
Rock legends Styx had a large crowd in a frenzy at the Port of Ashland after local band The Chase warmed things up with some outstanding music.
The headliner had the crowd on its feet early and often with some favorite hits like "Lady" and "Come Sail Away" drawing the most attention.
The rain came early but once The Chase came on around 8 p.m. there was not another drop of rain on a festival that had seen its fair share the first two nights.
The action moves to Central Park on Saturday and Sunday. "America's Got Talent" winner Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. will be playing at the park bandstand at 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Several activities are planned for the day, including the Summer Motion 10,000, the Heart Chase and the Chef Challenge. Carnival rides and food will also be available.
