Woman charged with endangering her son

ASHLAND — The following information was taken from Ashland Police Department reports:


‰An Ashland woman was charged with a felony Saturday for allegedly driving impaired with her 12-year-old son in her vehicle.

Gail L. Blanton, 43, was lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center on a charge of first-degree wanton endangerment. She was also charged with driving under the influence, no registration plates and no registration receipt.

Blanton was pulled over shortly before 6 p.m. in the 900 block of Belmont Street after a police officer and another witness saw her swerve into oncoming traffic. Following the stop, Blanton was found to be under the influence of drugs, the APD said.

Blanton remained in custody on Tuesday.


‰Shamrock Liquors, 1117 13th St., last week reported someone had used an unknown type of tool to break out the glass in its drive-through window.

‰A resident of the 3200 block of Hampton Street on Friday reported someone had entered his home and removed golf clubs, golf equipment and autographed sports items, all valued at $2,320.


‰A woman living in the 4700 block of Blackburn Avenue last week reported the theft of a grapevine tree and a metal-and-glass table from her front porch.

‰A woman on Thursday reported a car stereo faceplate was stolen from her vehicle while it was parked in the 2300 block of Forest Avenue.

‰A man living in the 2800 block of Moore Street on Monday reported the theft of a fiberglass truck bed topper valued at $300 from his back yard.


‰A 56-year-old Greenup woman was arrested Thursday at Walmart for allegedly trying to steal merchandise valued at $12.09. The woman also was charged with second-degree drug possession.

‰An 18-year-old Ashland woman was arrested Monday at Walmart for allegedly trying to steal merchandise valued at $91.54.
