LEXINGTON — Work by an artist from the region has been chosen as winner of the Holiday Art and Craft Show poster contest for the annual Lexington Art Show.

The work by Morehead artist Brenda Salyers will be unveiled Nov. 23, the opening day of the Holiday Art and Craft Show, at Lexington Center.

“So, so happy and honored that mine was chosen,” she said. “There are so many gifted and talented artists in the area. It humbles me that mine was even chosen.”

The show will bring more than 120 artists to Lexington.

Salyers grew up in Winchester and has the goal of painting all 120 Kentucky counties.

“As an artist, if you’ve made a piece of art and it’s how you wanted it to be, hopefully it can speak for itself. Whatever it says to the viewer is the right message because there isn’t a wrong and a right message. Each person takes something a little different from the same piece and I’m happy with that,” she said.

Salyers’ work will be unveiled at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 23. Fewer than 100 copies of the signed Kentucky poster will be available for purchase at $25. Unsigned posters will be available for $15.

“We aren’t sharing the image before the show, but I can tell you that it shows a beautiful version of one of Kentucky’s favorite downtowns. Everyone from the Bluegrass State will want to hang this poster in their home or office,” show director Lynn Wettish said.

Salyers also is an exhibitor during the third annual show, which will feature jewelry, photography, paintings, sculpture, glass and other media.

Hours both days of the show are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $6 and is good both days with a hand stamp. Ages 12 and younger are admitted free with a paid adult.

The center is at 430 W. Vine St.
