OLIVE HILL — One killed in accident

OLIVE HILL - Authorities say one was killed Tuesday in a two-vehicle accident in Carter County.

The wreck was about 2 p.m. on Ky. 174 west of Olive Hill, a Carter County 911 dispatcher said. The roadway was shut down.

No other details, including the names of those involved, were immediately available.

The Carter County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the accident, the dispatcher said.

Dance class to be offered

CANNONSBURG - The International Folklanders, a local folk and ethnic dance troupe, will sponsor a free beginners Irish Step Dance Workshop for all ages from 4:40 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Folk Dance House in Ponderosa Estates off I-64, Cannonsburg exit.

Beginners will learn a jig and reel step, along with warm-up exercises. A visiting dancer from the Trinity Academy of Irish Dance will demonstrate step patterns.

Monthly movie program continues

ASHLAND - The Boyd County Public Library will host its monthly Girls’ Night Out program with a showing of “Admission” at 5:30 p.m.  Aug. 28.

The movie will be shown at the main branch at 1740 Central Ave. Admission is $2, or bring a food item to share. Money collected will be used to purchase pizza and other refreshments.
