ASHLAND - Grief counseling will be offered by Community Hospice at 2 p.m. Thursdays beginning this week and continuing through May 1 at the main branch of the Boyd County Public Library at 1740 Central Ave.

SOMC announces ‘Pot of Gold’ winner

PORTSMOUTH - The Portsmouth Area Arts Council and Children’s Theater won SOMC’s “Pot of Gold” Facebook contest to receive $5,000 donation.

Second- and third-place winners —  Simon Kenton Council, Boy Scouts of America (Tecumseh District) and Portsmouth Public Library —  will receive $500; fourth- and fifth-place winners — Scioto County Homeless Shelter and Southern Ohio War Memorial — will receive $250.

Senior center to have open house Friday

CATLETTSBURG - The Boyd County Senior Center will have open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.

Health-care vendors and representatives from Medicare and Medicaid will be present. Door prizes will be awarded hourly and refreshments will be available.

U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Maysville, will be the speaker.

Lewis County riding club to meet April 1

VANCEBURG - The Rough Riders Saddle Club of Lewis County will have its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. April 1 at the Lewis County Extension Office at 284 Second St.

Dates for horse shows and trail rides will be set.
