One was killed and six others were injured Thursday in a two-vehicle accident at the junction of U.S. 60 and Ky. 5.
The accident occurred about 6 p.m. Details were sketchy at press time, but a Boyd County 911 dispatcher confirmed there was one fatality. Four others were flown to St. Mary’s Medical Center and two were transported to St. Mary’s by ambulance, the dispatcher said.
U.S. 60 was shut down as a result of the crash. Motorists were being advised to avoid the area, and the dispatcher said he anticipated the roadway would be closed for “quite awhile.”
The names of those involved in the collision were not immediately available.
The Boyd County Sheriff's Department and Kentucky State Police both were at the crash scene. The dispatcher said the KSP would likely handle the acccident investigation.
