Alleged shoplifter hit with drug charges

ASHLAND — The following information was taken from Ashland Police Department reports:

Shoplifting, drugs

‰An alleged Walmart shoplifter incurred additional drug-related charges following his arrest Tuesday.

According to the APD, the 21-year-old Ironton man was detained after he allegedly tried to steal merchandise valued at $54 from the store. He was subsequently found to have narcotics and prescription medications in an improper container in his possession, police said.

The man, who was under the influence of narcotics, after being taken to the King’s Daughters Medical Center emergency room, “caused alarm” there by screaming and cursing loudly while trying to hit his head against various objects.

The man was charged with third-degree drug possession, theft, prescription drugs not in proper container, public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

Theft

‰A woman living in the 500 block of Blackburn Avenue on Friday reported someone had stolen a spotlight from her yard.

‰A resident of the 3800 block of Logan Street on Monday reported someone stole a milk crate containing tools and Kentucky license plate from her driveway.

‰A woman on Tuesday reported someone stole her debit card and used to make $233.75 purchase from Walmart.

Shoplifting

‰A 36-year-old Ironton woman was arrested at Walmart after she allegedly tried to steal merchandise valued at $281. The woman also was charged with misdemeanor assault, and another woman with her was cited for criminal trespassing, the APD said.
