Old Fashion Days schedule

GREENUP — Today

7:30 a.m. — Greenup Lions Club Pancake Breakfast, on Main Street in front of the Lions Club’s hamburger wagon. Pancakes are $3; seniors eat free.

9 a.m. — Craft, food and business booths open.

9:30 a.m. — Wurtland Middle School Chorus directed by Kathy Saltsman.

10 a.m. —  Helping Hands open house. Helping Hands will be having open house all three days of the festival. Guided tours will be offered with refreshments, information about what the organization does and volunteer opportunities. Bring a can of food to be registered for a door prize to be given away at noon Saturday.

10 a.m.-4 p.m. — Greenup County Health Department will be providing flu shots in the kitchen area of the Greenup County Courthouse.

10 a.m. — Greenup County High School Chorus and Show Choir directed by Andrea Daniels.

10:30 a.m. —  Greenup County High School Band directed by Andrea Daniels.

11 a.m. — Russell High School Chorus directed by Teresa Russell.

11:30 a.m. — Russell High School Orchestra directed by Elizabeth Smith.

Noon — Parade of Wurtland Elementary School Students dressed in old-fashioned costumes. Students will begin walking from the Rhine Bridge to downtown Greenup and will sing on the courthouse steps.

1:45 p.m. — Greenup County High School varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders under the direction of Candi Berry.

2 p.m. — Old Fashion Spelling Bee sponsored by the Greenup County Retired Teachers Association. The first-place winner will receive a $100 savings bond.

2:30 p.m. — Raceland-Worthington seventh- and eighth-grade choir.

3 p.m. — Heritage elementary school dance

4:30 p.m. — Karaoke.

5:30 p.m. — Old Fashion Days Shoot-Out sponsored by Town Hill Motors

5:30 p.m. — Registration for 5K Run sponsored by Firm Fitness at the Bellefonte Pavilion, Greenup Christian Church Family Life Center.

6:30 p.m. — Old Fashion Days 5K Run begins in front of the courthouse. T-Shirts will be given to the first 150 participants. Awards will be presented at Greenup Christian Church following the race.

7 p.m. — Gospel music

Friday

9 a.m. — Craft, food and business booths open.

10 a.m. — Corn shuckin’ contest, sponsored by the Greenup Woman’s Club.

10 a.m. — Eastern Star Bean Dinner in the Masonic Lodge on Washington Street.

10 a.m.-2 p.m. — Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital will conduct free blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol screenings in the courthouse.

10 a.m.-4 p.m. — Old-fashioned quilts will be on display in the fiscal courtroom and will remain there through Saturday. Sponsored by the Greenup County Quilt Guild. Raffle tickets are being sold on a quilt to be given away. Tickets are $1 each. The winner will be drawn on Saturday and announced on stage.

10 a.m.-4 p.m. — Greenup County Health Department will be providing flu shots in the kitchen area of the Greenup County Courthouse.

10:30 a.m. — Story hour with Vicki Benner in the bookmobile.

11 a.m. — Mona Wright and Betty Leadingham.

11:30 a.m. — Registration for pizza-eating contest, courthouse. Sponsored by Russell Pizza Hut. There will be three age divisions with 10 contestants each. Children must have a release form signed by a parent/guardian. Age groups are 6-12, 13-17 and 18 and older. Winners in each age group will receive free pizzas a month for a year.

11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. — Baby pageant registration, courthouse. Contact Mary Kay McGinnis-Ruark at (606) 922-8283 for more information.

Noon — Pizza-eating contest, Main Street in front of the stage.

1 p.m. — Old Fashion Days Baby Pageant

3 p.m. — Children’s tricycle race sponsored by WLGC 105.7 FM. The race is open to ages 3-5. Bicycles will be awarded to one male and one female winner.

3:30 p.m. — Young Uns Pumpkin Tossin’ Contest Sponsored by the Greenup Woman’s Club, Washington Street.

4 p.m. — Opening ceremonies, Greenup County Tractor Club

5:30 p.m. — Old Fashion Days Shoot-Out sponsored by Town Hill Motors.

6 p.m. — Burning Ridge.

7:15 p.m. — Bronson Bush.

8:30 p.m. — The Whipps.

Saturday

9 a.m. — Craft, food, and business booths open.

9-9:45 a.m. — Costume contest registration, courthouse hallway. The contest is for all ages and there is no entry fee.  

9 a.m.-6 p.m. — Greenup Genealogy & Historical Society will be on the porch of the Greenup County Public Library to help people with genealogy.

9 a.m.-3 p.m. — Old Fashion Days Health Fair, Greenup Christian Church Life Center.

10 a.m. — Eastern Star bean dinner, Masonic Lodge on Washington Street.

10 a.m. —  Mutt Strut pet contest, sponsored by the Greenup County News-Times.

10 a.m. — Old Fashion Days Costume Contest.

10 a.m. — Entries for the apple pie baking contest, kitchen area of the courthouse. Judging begins at 11:00 with winners being announced at noon on the stage.

10 a.m.-noon — Registration for the Antique Car Show, sponsored by the Greenup Lions Club,  Main Street.

10 a.m.-2 p.m. — Ohio Valley Appalachian Writers Guild book signing by local authors, meeting room of the Greenup County Public Library. Information on the guild will also be available.

10 a.m. — Cornhole tournament registration at Music Funeral Home in downtown Greenu. Tournament begins at 11 a.m.

10 a.m. — Kiddie tractor pull registration, OFD Information Booth.

11 a.m.-1 p.m. — Registration for the ninth annual American Classic Motorcycle Show hosted by the Light Bearers Ministries, parking lot on Washington Street.

11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. — Greenup United Methodist Church will be serving soup and sandwiches in the dining area of the church.

11 a.m. — Isaac Stephens and the Fam Jam.

Noon —  Kiddie tractor pull.

Noon — Old Fashion Days Shoot Out sponsored by Town Hill Motors.

Noon —  Ora Osborne Memorial Fun Horse Show at the Greenup County Fairgrounds.

1 p.m. — Russell High School Dance Team, Greenup High School Dance Team and Tammy Jo’s Studio dancers.

2:30 p.m. —  Old Fashion Days Shoot-Out conclusion.

3 p.m. — Grand Parade begins to assemble on East Main Street between Greenup First Baptist Church and the fairgrounds.

6 p.m. — Kyle Fields.

7:30 p.m. — Talent show.
