Three Greenup County churches are collaborating on Saturdy’s Community Fall Family Bash.
Bridges Christian Church, First Baptist Church of Russell and Plaza Nazarene are pooling resources for the annual event on Bridges’ property.
“It’s been big in the past,” said Kevin Fraley of Bridges. “We estimated we probably had 1,000 people there last year. It seems to be growing each year.”
All activities and treats are free. There will be a dozen inflatables and hayrides. Hot dogs and hot chocolate will be served starting at 5:30 p.m.; at 6 p.m. there will be a walk-through drama about fear in the youth barn on the Bridges campus.
“It’s a drama suitable for all ages,” Fraley said.
At 7 p.m., children mayparticipate in trunk or treat. “A lot of families like to decorate their trunks in fall themes and we encourage the kids to wear costumes,” Fraley said.
The party is not the only activity in which the three neighboring churches work together, he said. They also have Upward soccer, football and basketball leagues and last year shared in the Winshape Camp.
“It’s a great way the three churches can come together, reach out to the community and have a good day,” Fraley said. “The weather is going to work out for us.”
The community center property at Bridges is reserved for trunk or treat. Shuttle vans will be running at all three churches throughout the evening.
“We’re going to have a good time,” Fraley said. “We invite the community to come and join us.”
