Paul to speak at Ashland forum
ASHLAND - U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., will speak at a public forum at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Highlands Museum and Discovery Center, 1620 Winchester Ave. A question-and-answer session will follow.
Trunk or treat set at YMCA
ASHLAND - The Ashland Area YMCA will host trunk or treat from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
‘Cosmic Journey’ to air tonight
MOREHEAD - The public programs for Morehead State University’s Star Theater for October will be “Cosmic Journey.”
“Cosmic Journey” will be shown at 6 p.m. today, followed by “Laser Pink Floyd — The Wall” at 7 and “Laser Pink Floyd — Dark Side of the Moon” at 8.
Programs will continue Saturday, with showings of “One World, One Sky” at 1 p.m., the new, live program “Moons of the Solar System” at 2:15 p.m. and “The Night Sky Over Morehead” at 3:30 p.m.
Selected laser music shows can contain unedited language.
“International Observe the Moon Night” will be at 7 p.m. Saturday. The event is free and weather permitting.
Road work set in Carter County
GRAYSON - Main Street will get about a mile of new blacktop this fall as part of a half-million-dollar Kentucky Transportation Cabinet highway improvement project.
Contractors are installing new handicapped-accessible sidewalk ramps and plan to begin paving operations next week along U.S. 60 from Powers Street to the Little Sandy River bridge in Grayson.
Paving is also being scheduled along a four-mile section of U.S. 60 west of Gregoryville, from Aden Road to Ky. 182.
Alley Holler reunion set
CATLETTSBURG - Alley Holler Reunion No. 9 will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Bates Field. There will be live music and games. Alcoholic beverages will not be permitted. Each family is asked to bring a covered dish, a dessert, drinks and seating.
