Ironton Farmers Market to host family fun festival

IRONTON — The Ironton Farmers Market will have a family fun festival on Saturday.

The market opens at 7 a.m. and festivities will begin about 9:30 a.m. The market is on Second Street in the train station area.

Community Action Organization departments will provide various games, activities and treats for children. Those will include face and pumpkin painting, temporary tattoos, jewelry, coloring, slushy drinks, hot cider, popcorn and sno-cones

Sisters of the Heart, a Cherokee performance group, will be entertaining and educating, as well as selling home baked items. The group’s performance is scheduled for 10 a.m.

The Lawrence County Health Department will be giving free flu shots.

A total of 19 vendors will offer summer produce along with fall products. Items on sale will include pumpkins, apples, gourds, peppers, sweet potatoes, apple butter, jellies, jams, pickles, homemade candy and baked goods.

The market is sponsored by Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital’s Community Outreach Program.
