ASHLAND — An Ashland man has been arrested in connection with a purse-snatching that occurred earlier this month in front of Scope Towers.

Gabriel K. Battise, 21, of Ferry Street, was lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center Sunday on a charge of first-degree robbery, according to the Ashland Police Department.

The robbery occurred Sept. 12 about 10:10 p.m. According to the APD, the female victim was outside in front of Scope Towers when a man approached her and started asking questions about someone living in the apartment complex.

The man then grabbed the woman’s purse and fled on foot, the APD said.

An “extensive investigation” led to Battise being identified as the robber, the APD said. Warrants were obtained and Battise was arrested Sunday at his residence.

Battise remained in custody on Monday, according to the jail’s website. No bond had been set.
