Several local nominees for IMEA Awards

ASHLAND — The IMEA Awards, presented by the International Music and Entertainment Association, has announced the Official Nominees for the 2013 IMEA Awards, which will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Paramount Arts Center.

The IMEA Awards honors and recognized the best in independent music and community/regional theater. To view the complete list of Official Nominees, visit IMEAAwards.com/nominees.

Fan voting for the IMEA Awards Music Categories began Sept. 5 and will close Oct. 1. Fan voting is only a minor influence on the final win. The winner for each category will be decided upon based on various factors from the IMEA Voting Committee, which is an anonymous committee that consists of industry professionals. Tickets are now on sale for the IMEA Awards and start at $15 for balcony seating or $20 for orchestra seating. Tickets can be purchased at ParamountArtsCenter.com.

Paramount Player’s “Wizard of Oz” spring performance has been nominated in seven categories including Best Musical, Melanie Cornelison for Best Director of a musical, Best Choreographer of a musical; Josh Jannotta for Best Feature Actor in a musical and Best Scenic Design; Ashley Taylor for Best Featured Actress in a musical and Morgan Casto for Best Lead Actress in a Musical.

Other local nominees include Tim Holmes for Best New Country CD of the Year.

Aside from award presentation at the IMEA Awards, there are several performances scheduled. Several performers from the Paramount Players will be performing the opening number, the Paramount Players, with special guest IMEA President Colt Chambers, will perform the closing number, “Finale B" from “RENT.” Theater socialite and performer Abby Peek will be performing “Show Off” from “The Drowsy Chaperone.” Colt Chambers and Brianna Valente will perform “Those You’ve Known” from “Spring Awakening.” Music performances include; Sheila Raye Charles, daughter of legend Ray Charles, pop singer Tyler Matl and several others awaiting confirmation.
