Huntington, W.Va. —
Nationally known country comedian Cledus T. Judd has come to town on a permanent basis.
He will join radio hosts Judy Eaton and Clint McElroy on WTCR 103.3’s morning show, which will be known as The Cledus T. Party with Clint and Judy and will air from 6 to 9 a.m. beginning Nov. 19.
Judd said he’s excited to be working and living in the Tri-State.
“When I checked into the hotel and I hear the accents, I knew I was home,” Judd said. “Y’all talk like I do.”
Judd is a singer, songwriter, comedian and television personality best known for his parodies of popular country music songs. He has released 11 studio albums and has had several singles on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. He also was a contestant on VH1’s reality show “Celebrity Fit Club” and was a correspondent for Nashville Star.
Judd said he has a vision for the show.
“The Cledus T. Party with Clint and Judy will be all about family, friends and fun — most radio people spend their careers trying to get out of a small town and I’ve been working most of mine trying to figure out how to get back to one,” he said.
Judy Jennings, regional marketing manager for Clear Channel Media and Entertainment which owns WTCR, said it’s exciting for the company to have Judd on board.
“I don’t know of any other market the size of ours who has a talent as well known in country music and comedy as Cledus,” Jennings said. “Cledus is going to make WTCR even more fun to listen to in the mornings, which is exciting for both our listeners and advertisers.”
Judd said he plans to live in Kentucky. His daughter lives in the Ashland area with her mother and stepfather.
