ASHLAND — 3 arrested on drug charges


Boyd County sheriff’s deputies arrested three on drug charges Monday after making a controlled purchase of pain pills in the 3300 block of Bath Avenue.

The buy resulted in deputies obtaining a search warrant for a residence there. Upon serving the warrant, deputies found Ashley N. McGuire, 25, and Shawn A. Owens, 28, in possession of and using drugs, the sheriff’s department said.

The man who allegedly sold the pills, Lewis E. Taylor, 38, was located at his residence in the 3000 block of Central Avenue.

All three suspects were lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center.

Fairview planning committee meet


The Fairview Independent School District’s local planning committee will hold its orientation meeting at 5:30 p.m. March 14 in the high school library.

ACTC hosting convention


The Alpha Omega Gamma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Ashland Community and Technical College will host the Kentucky regional convention of Phi Theta Kappa Friday and Saturday at the College Drive campus. The convention begins at 4 p.m. Friday in the Teleconference Room in the Learning Resource Center.

Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society of two-year-colleges and has 1,275 chapters in all 50 states and several other countries.
