Morehead State student killed in crash

BARDSTOWN — Molly McBride, 21, of Morehead and a sophomore at Morehead State University, was killed early Saturday in a two-vehicle crash on the Bluegrass Parkway near Bardstown in Nelson County, The Morehead News reported.

She was the daughter of Scott and Jill McBride and a graduate of Rowan County Senior High School.

Nelson County EMS was called to the crash scene at 5:56 a.m. McBride apparently was killed instantly. The Bardstown Fire Department was summoned to extricate her body from the vehicle.

A woman and child in the second vehicle were taken to a Bardstown hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The victim’s father is dean of MSU’s College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. He is on a visit to China with President Wayne D. Andrews and other MSU officials.

An MSU spokesperson said Saturday that McBride and Andrews are returning to Morehead as soon as possible.

Funeral arrangements will be handled by Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals.
