CATLETTSBURG — The director and deputy director of the Catlettsburg Housing Authority were terminated on Thursday by the agency’s board of directors.

Executive Director Mica Williamson and deputy Director Tara Daniels were fired during Thursday’s meeting, said Chairman of the Board Roger Hensley.

“The board felt like they were just not doing the job they should be doing,” he said, when reached by phone after the meeting. Hensley declined to give specific details about the decision, but noted the agency’s most recent audit “was part of it.”

When questioned if the terminations had to do with allegations of misappropriation of funds, Hensley declined to comment beyond saying, “It could be.” He said there will be an ongoing investigation.

Hensley said U.S. Housing and Urban Development officials in Louisville were aware of the board’s decision and have been in discussions with the board. Hensley said HUD has provided the board with a list of unauthorized expenses.

Calls to HUD seeking comment on Thursday were not immediately returned.

The Catlettsburg Housing Authority operates Grandview Manor and Forest Heights apartment complexes with approximately 150 apartment units.

Williamson had served as director since May 2011 following the retirement of longtime director Pat Branham. Before taking that position, Williamson was resident director at Deboard Terrace, within the Ashland Housing Authority system.

Daniels has served as deputy director since July 2011.

Hensley said the board had authorized him to find an appropriate acting director until a new, permanent replacement can be found.
