Domestic dispute reveals possible meth-making

ASHLAND —  The following information was taken from Ashland Police Department reports:


‰Police on Monday arrested an 18-year-old Ashland man for allegedly committing a strong-armed robbery.

Jesse C. Lewis was lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center on a second-degree robbery charge.

The incident occurred about 10:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Beech Street. The female victim told police Lewis grabbed her wrist, took $200 from her hand and fled on food to his apartment on Woodland Avenue. The victim chased, and Lewis allegedly slammed her arm in a sliding glass door at his apartment and then ran out the front door, the APD said.

Lewis remained in custody on Tuesday.


‰Police were summoned to a domestic disturbance Sunday and found the couple involved had also allegedly been manufacturing or attempting to manufacture methamphetamine.

The disturbance was reported about 11:30 a.m. in the 3400 block of 13th Street. The couple hadn’t been charged as of press time.

‰Robert L. Taylor, 52, of the 3000 block of Central Avenue was arrested Thursday on a felony drug possession after he was allegedly found to have crack cocaine on him during a traffic stop in the 2700 block of Carter Avenue.


‰Don Williams Painting, 3037 Greenup Ave., on Saturday reported various painting equipment and polls valued at $2,500 had been stolen in a break-in.


‰A woman last week reported her wallet was stolen from an office at Pathways, 201 22nd St.

‰An employee of AT&T on Sunday reported someone drilled out a lock on his truck while it was parked at the Ashland Plaza Hotel and stole power tools, a GPS unit, a metal detector and other items, all valued at $3,000, from the vehicle.

‰A woman on Saturday reported someone broke out a window of her vehicle while it was parked at an unspecified location on Winchester Avenue and stole her purse from it.

‰A man on Sunday reported someone drilled the lock on his vehicle while it was parked in the 1400 block of Winchester Avenue and stole stereo equipment, a radar detector and other items. The stolen items were valued at $2,360.


‰Cathy A. Jones, 47, of Kenova, was arrested Sunday on a felony theft charge for allegedly attempting to steal merchandise from Belk valued at $1,170.

‰A 33-year-old Coal Grove man was arrested Monday at Walmart for allegedly attempting to steal merchandise valued at $227.67. The suspect also was charged with illegal possession of a legend drug.
