Woman reports vacation burglary

ASHLAND — The following information was taken from Ashland Police Department reports:


‰A woman living in the 2400 block of McGurk Street on Monday reported she had returned home from vacation to find prescription pills valued at $210 missing from her residence, along with $90 worth of coins.

‰A resident of the 900 block of Chestnut Street on Tuesday reported someone had attempted to break into her home through the back door.


‰A woman on Monday reported someone broke into her car while it was parked at Movies 10 and stole her purse. The purse and contents were valued at $240; damage to the vehicle was estimated at $200.

‰A man on Monday reported his iPhone, valued at $400, was stolen at Hillcrest Apartments.


‰Employees of the Sprint kiosk in the Ashland Town Center on Tuesday reported a man had reached behind the counter, grabbed a Samsung Galaxy S4 phone valued at $900 and run off with it.

‰Second Hand Rose Furniture, 3205 13th St., on Monday reported the theft of a wooden room divider from the parking lot of the store.

‰A 31-year-old Portsmouth woman was arrested Monday for allegedly trying to steal merchandise valued at $48.50 from Claire’s in the Ashland Town Center.
