ASHLAND — Two charged with crack dealing

ASHLAND Two brothers were arrested Thursday for allegedly selling crack cocaine.

Boyd County sheriff’s deputies arrested Clarence Wilkerson, 24, and Abdul Wilkerson, 23, at their apparent in the 200 block of Dalton Avenue in Ashland, the sheriff’s department said.

The Wilkersons allegedly sold crack to an undercover informant, which led to the issuance of a search warrant. The search of the apartment turned up drugs and cash, the sheriff’s department.

Deputies also charged a woman, Alexandra T. Qinn, 20, with hindering prosecution for allegedly trying to give false information to deputies regarding the name of a person with an outstanding warrant.

Boil-water advisory issued in Raceland

RACELAND The City of Raceland has issued a boil-water advisory because of a water line break.

Areas affected are all of Poplar Highlands, Race Track Hill and the Raceland-Worthington High School area.

Benefit dinner scheduled today

WURTLAND The Greenup County Cruisers will have a spaghetti dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Wurtland Fire Department to help defray medical costs of a child battling cancer.

Cost is $6 and all proceeds go toward putting on the Adams Run, which will benefit the child. The fire department is at 1218 Wurtland Ave.

OU Jazz Ensemble I playing in Ironton

IRONTON The nationally renowned and award-winning Ohio University Jazz Ensemble I, from the Ohio University School of Music in Athens, will perform at the Ohio University Southern Riffe Center Mains Rotunda on Tuesday at 8 p.m. Admission is free.

This performance will feature several works in a variety of jazz idioms.

They will perform the same program at the prestigious Elmhurst (IL) College Jazz Festival a few days after their performance at Ohio University Southern.  

Raceland office closed Monday

RACELAND Raceland City Building will be closed Monday in observance of President’s Day.
