An Ashland woman has a way of helping parents everywhere.
Wendy Sparks, 47, wrote The journals, which are for parents to keep for themselves and their children during pregnancy.
There are two: “Expecting…Pregnancy Journal For Mother” and “Expecting…Pregnancy Journal For Father.”
“The journals are unique in the way they guide the birth mother and father through question after question, from the moment they find out they are expecting until they bring the baby home,” she said. “They journals provide a weekly diary, and notes concerning physician appointments, hospital, medical, baby boom, labor, baby info and love letters to your baby with your hopes and dreams.”
The journals are meant to last for years, she said. “Imagine generations from now a relative holding a journal that was hand written by you…that is priceless.”
It might seem strange to write a pregnancy journal for fathers, but not to Sparks.
“I wrote a pregnancy journal for fathers because pregnancy involves all members of the family,” she said, noting they are involved in the pregnancy now more than ever. “They are involved in the planning of the pregnancy, doctor visits, more and more are in the delivery room. Some are stay-at-home fathers. They can’t wait to bond with their children; teach them how to read, write, ride bicycles, and how to succeed and be a good person in life. They would also like to share their story in their own words for generations to come. A hand written journal from both of your parents to share with your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren — priceless.”
The Katei journals have 164 pages and sell for $19.95 at Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Book depository and mykatei.com.
