SOUTH SHORE — KDMC to close transport location

SOUTH SHORE - King’s Daughters Medical Center on Wednesday announced it will close its South Shore medical transport service location and will no longer provide emergency transport services in Greenup County.

The hospital released the following statement regarding the move:

“King’s Daughters Medical Transport currently provides emergent and nonemergent transport services to Greenup County. We have worked very hard to try and generate enough runs to make this a financially viable operation, but have been unable to do so given there are two other providers serving this area. We have made the difficult decision to close the South Shore location and no longer provide emergency services in Greenup County, effective 30 days from today.

“There are 12 KDMT team members affected by this decision. Each is being offered existing open positions within King’s Daughters.

“As we are committed to serving Greenup County, we will continue to provide nonemergent transport services out of our King’s Daughters Home Medical location in Russell.”
