Miss Grayson pageant set for April 5

GRAYSON — The 2014 Miss Grayson Heart of the Parks Scholarship Pageant will be April 5 in the East Carter High School Gymnasium.

The pageant, sponsored by the Grayson Area Chamber of Commerce, will crown Miss Grayson, Miss Heart of the Parks. The winners will advance to the Miss Kentucky Pageant in Lexington in July. Entertaining, emceeing and crowning the new queens will be Miss Grayson 2013 KaShara Garrett, Miss Heart of the Parks 2013 Hayley Franklin and 2013 Miss Grayson’s Outstanding Teen Alex Francke.

This year, the Miss Grayson Pageant Committee is again sponsoring a Miss Grayson Heart of the Parks Outstanding Teen Pageant and a Little/Pre-Teen Miss Grayson Heart of the Parks Pageant. The winners of these pageants may advance to the Miss Kentucky Teen Pageant and the Little/Pre-, which is in conjunction with the Miss Kentucky Pageant in June 2014.

The Little/Pre-Teen Miss Pageant will begin at 2:30 p.m. and the Outstanding Teen and Miss Pageant will begin at 6:30 p.m. The door will open one hour before each pageant; admission is $5.

Age divisions are:

‰3 to 12 are eligible to participate in the Little/Pre-Teen division

‰13 to17 (Junior in High School) are eligible to participate in the Outstanding Teen division

‰17 (Senior in High School) to 24 are eligible to participate in the Miss division

Deadline to enter any of the pageant divisions is March 31.

     One minor injury was reported after a passenger car collided with an ambulance at the intersection in front of the Paramount Arts Center on Winchester Avenue around 10 a.m. Tuesday. Independent videographer Adam Black witnessed the accident and reported the ambulance was traveling south of Winchester with lights on and siren activated when it was struck in the rear quarter panel by a passenger vehicle that had a green light for the intersection and failed to yield for the emergency vehicle.
